Before rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty or also called nose job or nose reshaping is a process in which some modifications are made to your nose either to meet some aesthetic goals or to correct some defects or breathing problems. This article as the name implies deals with the conditions prior to rhinoplasty.
Why should one go for rhinoplasty? Well the causes are multi fold but the most common ones are to meet some aesthetic goal or to cure some birth defect. If the cause is aesthetic then there are some points worth pondering over. Firstly the doctor cannot just manufacture or create a nose by himself; he will be limited by the internal and external structure of your nose. It is imperative that you are able to communicate your needs or goal to the doctor well in advance and advisable in this case that you carry some pictures of nose that you like. The doctor can then tell you if the goal is feasible or not. Also make sure that you discuss your complete medical history with your doctor. If you have had nose injury even if that was in the distant past or if you had a nose surgery before. Also be sure to tell doctor if you have diabetes, poor circulation, heart disease, lung or liver disease, smoke or have a family history of blood clot. This is necessary because all this condition can give rise to complications later and is better if the doctor knows about it before hand.
The next important thing is to check if your insurance covers you for this surgery. If the surgery is done for some aesthetic purpose then the insurance do not cover you but if it corrects a birth defect or correct the breathing problem then this might be covered by insurance companies but to make sure first check this out with your insurance company too.
This covers the important part before surgery; make sure that you pay heed to the advice given above.
